OUR CAMPING & OUTDOOR GEAR

These days we are all spoilt for choice when it comes to gear for getting out there. We’re going to run through the camping and outdoor gear we use whilst out adventuring.

Cooking

We love camp cooking especially if it's on a fire. We run a cast iron plate and homemade fire stand which services alot of our cooking needs. We also run 2 spun steel bedourie camp ovens (1x 12 quart 1x 10 quart). We like the Bedouries for a few reasons, 1 - they’re light weight 2 - they’re so versatile. With the ability to use the lid as a frypan we cook all sorts of delicious meal from roasts to casseroles to pancakes and nachos!

For the summer months when we can’t have a fire, we have a Coleman Hyperflame gas stove. It’s been great! Initially it ran pretty hot but we discovered a little trick to getting better flame adjustment - game changer.

A billy is a must in any camp cooking kit and there known better then the Zebra billys. Heavy duty, and made to be used we have 3 Zebra billys of varying sizes (plus one with a spout). They have with standed years of roaring fires, corrugations and being left out in the weather, and still with a little elbow grease and some steel wool they come up looking brand new again. 100% recommended.

Utensils

There are so many choices when it comes to plates, bowls, cups and cutlery for camping. We choose to go down the X Series plates and bowls by Sea to Summit; they're super hardy and collapse for easy storage. We also run Sea to Summit plastic cutlery (the knives even cut steak!). As for cups, we love our YETI cups, they really speak for themselves, but to sum them up, they keep the coffee hot and the wine cold!

Coffee

We love our morning coffee, and unfortunately when it comes to coffee we don’t settle for instant. That would be too easy! But in saying that good coffee can be easy! We run an AeroPress Go coffee press - lightweight, compact and super easy to use the AeroPress is a life saver! We use good quality beans specifically ground for an AeroPress that makes a beautiful cup of coffee to get our day started.

We use a small moon landed style hiking stove to heat the water whilst we’re on the road or the billy on the fire if we’re camped up. For milk we carry a Nespresso milk frother we run off our 12v system which makes making a delicious cappuccino that much easier.

Furniture

We have a work / prep bench built into our kitchen side of the canopy, however we also carry a small fold out table. We bought whatever brand fit in the little nook we had. We have a couple BCF Wanderer compact director chairs which are super comfy, easy to set up and easy to pack away (they even happen to come out of the same factory as the ARB and Darche equivalents, for less $$).

Tools

Carrying tools on the road is a must and we carry a variety of tools such as sockets, spanners, pliers, files, wire, screwdrivers etc etc. We also carry a selection of 18v battery tools. We love our Makita gear and run a drill, recip saw, grinder, vacuum and the all important radio. We have a 18v battery charger included in our 12v setup running through our inverter to keep the batteries charged.

Others

There is plenty of other gear we carry to ensure our safety and enjoyment on the roads and tracks. This includes Maps, We use Hema Maps, we have both paper and digital versions of the maps just incase.
